One of the things that we all need at some time is light. Whether it’s simply to be able to see better or whether it’s part of a design to highlight a certain element in your house, the number of choices that you have are seemingly endless.
My view is that if you’re going to have a light in your room, make it a statement piece that works as much when the light is off as it does when the light is on. Lighting has to be functional, but that doesn’t mean that it has to be boring.
Use decorative bulbs to eliminate the need for lamp shades. Use a combination of table lamps and floor lamps to break up the flow of light. Use directional lighting to add a dramatic effect that compliments your ‘wash’ lighting. Mix traditional materials and designs.
Go on – experiment with different things – you’ll love the differences that they can make.
